(This review is personal, if there are parties who are offended, apologize, only presenting a film review from personal observation)

Behind the controversy is whether there is censorship or not. Don't get your hopes up with the 'story' dish in this film, if you just see Fatality and brutality.
In this film, the gore effect is presented very explicitly, the battle in the style of the Mortal Kombat game is quite intense and bloody, although unfortunately there are some scenes that are classified as very sadistic which are covered by the evil LSF censorship (more or less, the one the admin encountered was 3x cut by LSF).
This Mortal Kombat film looks a bit confused in directing the story in this film, many plotholes are not well explained, the prologue of the story should exist but is made very minimal and limited, the audience is forced to think hard to understand every foreign term in the world of Mortal Kombat,
The concept of the film is very 'deja-vu' with a failed Tekken adaptation,
It is very visible, this film adaptation is just a mere fan service for fans of the Mortal Kombat Game who long for Liu Kang et al's live-action offerings.
The plot of the story is not well conceptualized, the chemistry between the characters is also lacking in unity, the accents and dialogue of the players also look unnatural, even a bit ridiculous. Making stories that contain Asian and European people is a bit tricky, more than that, this Mortal Kombat film just exposes a blind and bloody scuffle, not forgetting 'Fatality' and 'Finish Him' which have become Mortal Kombat icons.
It is an honor to see Joe Taslim side by side in Mortal Kombat, especially Joe as Sub Zero who is one of the main villains, but unfortunately in this film Joe Taslim's skills and martial arts skills are not much seen, especially because the character of Sub-Zero is indeed his ice power. more dominant and helped by Visual and CGI effects.
Well, in terms of Visual Effects and CGI, MK is very serious and does look realistic, the blood splatter effect and the super power technique of the Mortal Kombat 'Cosplayers' (Meaning Characters), feels so neat and tense.
Somewhat amused by Cut from LSF, Fatality is Mortal Kombat's appeal, even censored as bad as udel, ok admin spoiling 3 censored scenes that admin got (If there is maybe FFBO friends can add it)
1. Hanzo's Kunai Attack Sensor hits the head
2.Kung Lao's Fatality (too sadistic, Nitara's head was split in half)
3. Jax's Fatality (Reiko's head breaks into pieces by Jax's iron fist)
The ones that are censored are the scenes of crushing the head which are a bit painful. But calm down there are still around 4-5 Fatality that are still being shown.
Overall: Ignore the rather dense plot, visuals and CGI are so realistic, the battle scenes in the style of the Mortal Kombat game are very tense, plus the iconic elements of Fatality, some of the characters who make the Mortal Kombat film feel special (for fans)
POINT SDS
6.7 / 10
sorry without censorship and even cut from LSF, Mortal Kombat overall is not satisfactory and continues the trend of failed game adaptations.
