Why Keep A Dog As The Emotional Support Animal

If you are suffering from emotional imbalances or any mental disorder then you should have an affectionate and supporting pet animal around you. It is shown through various researches that animals tend to have a calming effect on their human companions and thus can help them attain emotional stability. No one can tell you this better than those who keep pets with them.

If you have emotional difficulties and suffer from a disorder then having emotional support animals (ESAs) such as a dog can help you cope with your condition. An emotional support dog letter will further help you gain the various benefits that come with the ESAs.

How to get an Emotional Support Animal Letter (ESA Letter)

In order to acquire an  ESA letter, you need to know what an ESA Letter is: it is a prescription authorized by the stamp and the signature of a mental health specialist that allows for you to have an animal as your Emotional Support Animal, such that you can benefit from the various laws and regulations that protect the ESAs and their owners.

The ESA Letter can be acquired in two ways:

  • Through in-person consultation with a licensed mental health specialist. Consulting the specialist for the ESA Letter will prompt him/her to assess your emotional and mental state. This process of evaluation will occur over many sessions, and after the assessment, the mental health specialist will decide whether you require an emotional support animal pet. If yes, then s/he will provide you with the ESA Letter. If you do not have an ESA letter you can apply for an ESA letter online.
  • Through online consultation or an online ESA Letter service. Make sure that you do a background check on the authenticity of the ESA letter service. The online service connects you with a mental health specialist who through questionnaires and other assessments, assesses your condition, and makes a decision upon it. The ESA Letter is then dispatched to your house if the specialist has allowed you to have an ESA Letter.

The ESA Letter doesn’t have to include the disability or the disorder that deems it necessary for a person to have a pet as an emotional support animal. It will just state the fact that through proper assessment, the patient is prescribed to have a pet for emotional support. It will then have a signature of the specialist and the authorized stamp. If you have a pet you should have an emotional support animal letter

Why Dogs of all pets fit the ESA bill?

Dogs are amongst the most common pet animals around the world and also the most common ESAs in America. Dogs have been human’s best companions for thousands of years. With the special breeding programs happening over several centuries we now have various breeds that have defined characteristics. Some are best accustomed to outdoor living and adventure-seeking people, some are suited for apartment or closed space living, some are suited for family homes and being part of the household, while some are accustomed to performing jobs for their human companions in fields and farms. If you want to keep your pet inside your house you should have an ESA letter for housing.

Most of these dogs are affectionate and loving animals, that shower their owners and human companions with love and support. You can have a pet dog that is made for your living style, whether you travel a lot, live outdoors, live in the countryside, or in the city.

The trainability, intelligence, and their need for human companionship allow dogs to be a well-mannered dog when you travel with your pet along with you in the passenger cabin through the provision of your ESA letter, or when you live inside a rented house exempted from the no-pet rules, thanks to the ESA Letter.
